SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: This vacancy of Head of St Stithians Boys’ Preparatory was created following the internal promotion of the current Boys’ Prep Head to the position of Director of Advancement.  The Head leads a school of 400 boys in Grades 3-7, with a staff complement of 47 people. The successful incumbent will assume responsibility for leading the Boys' Preparatory in a strategic manner, as well as managing the school on a daily basis.





KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS OF THE HEAD'S ROLE INCLUDE:



  • Determine, develop and role model the values and culture of the Boys’ Preparatory
  • Execute the Boys’ Preparatory strategy in alignment with the College strategy
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Boys’ Preparatory staff
  • Advance the school as a centre of excellence in boys’ education
  • Promote educational and institutional synergies among the schools of St Stithians College

  • Significant experience as an educational leader of a dynamic learning community
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to work with, and lead, others
  • Commitment to promoting synergy among the schools of St Stithians
  • A role model of Christian witness and leadership through service
  • Enthusiasm for the opportunities and challenges of leading a South African school in the 21st century in the context of national transformation





SPECIFIC QUALITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL INCLUDE:

  • A suitable professional qualification, academic standing, and at least seven years appropriate educational leadership experience 
  • Experience of, and willingness to advance, boys' education 
  • High energy levels and strong work ethic 
  • Qualities of integrity 
  • Excellent people and communication skills 
  • Ability to make dynamic and effective leadership decisions 
  • Strategic inclination 
  • Solid knowledge and experience of corporate governance principles 
  • A track record of organisational effectiveness 
  • Proof of registration with SACE and a sexual offender's clearance certificate
