SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Financial Manager will be required to: manage the Financial Management systems, processes, policies, procedures and resources and those activities and obligations as they relate to the company’s financial objectives, budgets, risks and schedules; provide leadership and co-ordination to ensure effective project execution in the accounting and procurement departments. The position presents a growth path to the position of Chief Financial Officer of the company.

GROUP BACKGROUND: The Mining Group is a listed European organisation, which is strategically focussing on selective growth opportunities with a focus on mining, metallurgy and trading; concentrating on small to medium size mineral deposits with the aim of expanding its efforts into metals such as tungsten and gold.

The South African Subsidiary operates a chrome mine in the Northwest Province, about 100kms from Rustenburg, where they are undergoing projects for underground expansion and the development of a new Platinum Group Metal Flotation Plant.


Our client is looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant (South Africa) with at least five years experience, post articles, in financial reporting in the mining sector; a senior manager with a proven track record and thorough knowledge of South African tax regulations, International Financial Reporting Standards and their applications; as well as a working knowledge of either an Oracle or SAP ERP system.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, being able to communicate at all levels within the organisation; be a strong leader and team player who enjoys working with people and who can delegate to and motivate subordinates; have good decision making, problem solving, risk management and strategic planning skills; be achievement and performance orientated; be resilient and discreet; and be able to use his/her initiative and strong business acumen with foresight.


The Financial Manager will have responsibility for the annual financial statements; monthly management accounts; budgets, forecasting and cost control; monthly project reporting with focus on the OPEX/CAPEX budgets; developing the strategic financial plan for the Company; and attending to all Audit and Tax matters of the Company.
