POSITION: Executive Regulatory and Compliance

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Telecommunications

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: To strategically manage all of the Group’s regulatory agendas/relationships with the various regulatory bodies across the organisation’s footprint and relevant global bodies, and ensure compliance to internal processes and policies, applicable laws and regulations, across the footprint

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED: 

  • Should ideally have a Bachelor of Commerce, LLB, BJuris, BProc degree or equivalent

  • Must have a 4 year tertiary degree. A Master of Business Administration or Masters degree would be advantageous

  • Should be fluent in English and should ideally be able to converse in French.

  • Should currently be Head of Regulatory and Compliance for a company/division in the telecommunications or banking sector which has multiple operations in Africa

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years post qualifying experience with at least 5 years’ experience in the regulatory/compliance field in the telecommunications or banking sector

  • Emerging markets and multi-cultural experience

  • Multi-country strategy oversight experience

  • Ability to manage government relationships

 

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

  • Strategically manage the Group’s regulatory and compliance agenda

  • Give input to influence into regulatory policies/regulations, legislative framework and future impact of new regulatory policies and legislation

  • Formulate, develop and provide strategic direction with regard to the Group’s regulatory and compliance function

  • Independently guide the Group Executive Committee and the Group Board of Directors in order to establish/ enhance a regulatory/compliance culture

  • Ensure the Group adheres to the highest standard of Corporate Governance by conducting its business with transparency, accountability and integrity

  • Ensure that all strategic plans and activities fit in with regulatory requirements – anticipating changes in the regulatory environment and influencing the Group’s company strategy in anticipation.
