General Manager, South Africa

Professional Critical Medical Logistical Services 

Based in Johannesburg

Company Background:

Multinational providing professional critical medical logistical services in South Africa. 


Position Summary:

Reporting to the Regional General Manager for Southern African the General Manager, South Africa, will have responsibility and authority for the overall operating and financial performance of the business in South Africa.


Key areas of activity:

Providing effective leadership to the management team to ensure the provision of high quality care and consulting services to clients.

Total staff of 150 people and finincial responsibility for a turnover in the region of R300 million.


Key Attributes Required:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree
  • A minimum of four to six years experience with full bottom line responsibility for a service business with an annual turnover in excess of R150 million and employing more than 70 people
  • Experience of working in South Africa and reporting within a matrix structure
  • The ideal candidate will have had a successful expatriation experience and be a “global citizen” and have achieved success in working in a cross-border, matrix structure
  • Has directly managed Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Operations and Finance teams
  • Strong track record in business development, ideally in the service industry providing and implementing complex B2B solutions to multinational companies in a fast moving, global 24/7 environment, in the IT, logistics, Human Resources outsourcing, and professional business services sectors
  • Successful history of building, mentoring, motivating and leading a high calibre team
  • Sound knowledge of financial management, budgeting, strategic planning and safety management
