SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume overall responsibility and authority for:  

Developing the strategy and execution of a holistic communications and corporate affairs capability, to enhance the brand and positioning of the organisation amongst all stakeholders. These communications are targeted to business and financial media, investors, customers and other critical audiences that build awareness and understandingof the company's business strategy, long-term growth potential, positions onkey issues, and innovative products and services.  

Enhancing the reputation of the organisation and position the company as a thought leader and a successful,growing, innovative provider of a broad range of risk management and insurancesolutions.

GROUP BACKGROUND: The Group is a highly regarded company, a leader in its field, and the South African Subsidiary of a major listed global financial services provider. It offers products and services that cater for the needs of individual, commercial and corporate customers.


  • Bachelors degree, with a relevant major. Post graduate qualification recommended
  • Strong interest and experience indeveloping and executing a successful communications strategy directed towards multiple stakeholders
  • Solid experience in external/ media communications, including liaison with and content development for a third party Public Relations firm
  • Excellent business understanding coupled with strong experience in public affairs and strategic communication
  • Experience in the financial services sector and strategy or business development would be useful
  • Strong presentation skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and experience as a media spokesperson
  • Senior management level, with experience managing a small team


  • Lead and manage the communication steam
  • Implement the company’s external andinternal communication strategies including media relations, crisis communication and reputation management
  • Ensure the alignment of all communication with all of the organisation’s chosen stakeholders
  • Liaise with Marketing, People Management, Sales and other functional areas, towards supporting the company’s values and core branding activities
  • Act as the media spokesperson, and take accountability for all media queries and requests
  • Drive and manage the external communications strategy with the selected Public Relations partner
  • Ensure that all aspects of communications are co-ordinated and leveraged to enhance the organisation’s positioning amongst stakeholders
