POSITION: Managing Director

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Industrial Manufacturing Company

JOBLOCATION: Johannesburg

REPORTSTO: Board of Directors (representing the shareholders)

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: In excess of 230 staff

SUMMARYOF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Full responsibility for the operations and all aspects of the business, including sales and marketing, finance, operations (supply chain, manufacturing, etc) and human resources. Responsibility will include developing appropriate short, medium and long term strategies to not only protect marketshare, but to grow the business through the development of new products, markets and/or mergers and acquisitions.

GROUPBACKGROUND: The Group is a leading industrial manufacturing company with plants in Johannesburg and Cape Town, employing around 230 staff with an annual turnover in excess of R200 million

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in a Technical or Marketing/Sales disciplineor a CA(SA)
  • Appropriate experience for at least 5 years managing a business with full responsibility for all functions of the business
  • Board experience
  • Proven experience in the management of:
    • Working capital
    • Human Capital
    • Marketing
    • Products and Product Development

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Establish himself / herself as Managing Director without alienation of existing staff and rapidly assume control of the general management function
  • Familiarise self with management team and their respective capabilities
  • Develop an intimate understanding of the company’s customers and markets
  • Conduct a comprehensive business wide risk analysis
  • Identify opportunities for business growth
  • Manage costs and drive continuous improvement
