POSITION: Head: Product and Proposition Development

NATURE OF BUSINESS: South African Subsidiary of a Listed Global Financial Services Group

JOB LOCATION:Johannesburg

REPORTS TO: Chief Marketing Officer

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVEOPPORTUNITY: Responsible for leading and driving the development of compelling products and propositions for the South African subsidiary. Taking a leading role, alongside Underwriting, in embedding a culture of innovation within the organisation, to ensure that a strong pipeline of ideas and concepts are developed that reinforce the organisation as a thought leader within the industry.

GROUP BACKGROUND: The group is the South African Subsidiary of a major listed global financial services provider and offers products and services that cater for the needs ofindividual, commercial and corporate customers.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Five to ten years senior management experience gained in financial services with proven experience in leading and managing Product and Proposition development teams in previous roles
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Some experience in internal consulting / facilitation role would be an advantage

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Assume responsibility for the effective leadership and management of the position without alienating the existing staff and rapidly assume managerial responsibility and authority of the role
  • Set up and embed a Product and Proposition development function within the South African operation, building capability both within Marketing and outside of the function to ensure that anintegrated approach to development activity is taken
  • To own and be responsible, in conjunction with Underwriting, for all product and proposition activity within South Africa
  • To maintain and review the existing product portfolio to ensure it is appropriate for the target markets
  • To build and create exciting new products and propositions that support the development of the multi segment strategy and ensure that the organisation builds its position as an industry and market leader
  • To develop business case and cost benefit analysis to ensure products and propositions deliver required GWP (gross written premium) and ROE (return on equity) targets
  • Generate and continually refresh a healthy pipeline of new products and services covering insurance and risk management products
