Position Summary:

As the custodian of project excellence in the organisation, assume responsibility for: 

• Providing strategic project control inputs to the organisation's business strategy and plan of the project division
• Executing and delivery of projects
• Establishing and maintaining business relationships and alliances that are strategic to the execution of projects
• Developing and ensuring adherence to the organisation's policies and procedures and Strategic Project Office methodologies, guidelines, and practices
• Overseeing the development and maintenance of program/project controls tools, techniques, methodologies, processes, and procedures
• Managing the integration of the organisation's project controls tools with corporate financial, procurement, quality, and reporting systems
• Establishing communication plans and roll out strategies for implementation and continuous improvement of processes, based on metrics and feedback from Strategic Project Office members
• Coordinating the development of the annual program/project budget
• Ensuring consistent application of an effective project management methodology and tools across the business
• Mentoring and developing Junior Project Managers

 Key Attributes Required: 

• A graduate with a four year engineering degree
• A post graduate qualification in business or project management would be an added advantage
• 10 to 12 years post-qualifying experience, including at least 8 years project management experience as a member of the executive team managing large/mega and complex projects
• An in-depth understanding of the use and application of business information and reporting systems
• Knowledge of the strategic and operational issues of large/mega and complex mining projects
• Strong knowledge in the use and application of project control systems and tools
• Thorough knowledge of project management principles and practices
• Experience in mentoring and developing junior project managers
