The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA), previously known as The Jockey Club, is a professional regulatory body for both the sport of thoroughbred horseracing and the breeding of thoroughbred horses in Southern Africa. The main function of the NHA is to maintain and enhance the sport of horseracing with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
An opportunity exists for someone who has a high level of interest in sport and sports administration to combine this with their professional experience and assume a leadership role for the effective control of all aspects of the racing control function of the NHA.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Based in Johannesburg and reporting to the Chief Executive, the Racing Control Manager will lead, manage and control all Stipendiary Stewards and Investigating Officers together with all aspects of the entire integrity chain of racing control functions.
KEY ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
Lead, control, develop and assess Stipendiary Stewards and Investigating Officers, as well as the responsibilities of the Veterinary Surgeons
Ensure that staff are trained and coached appropriately and manage performance
Review and comment on all Race Meeting Reports
Process all aspects of Inquiries and Appeals
Contribute to the Licensing Board and Rules Committee deliberations
Regularly visit all Racing Districts to assess the effective implementation of Racing Controls
Introduce newly-devised procedures or systems
Support the Public Relations activities for the continued enhancement of the image of the NHA and its staff as the active and effective controlling body of racing
Key Attributes Sought:
A graduate, ideally with a legal or financial background
A great manager, organiser and lateral thinker with maturity and good interpersonal skills
Enthusiastic, empathetic and passionate about the high level of integrity but rationally objective
Experienced in administration and control issues
Sound communication and presentation abilities
Ability to interact and work with a wide range of people and willing to be totally involved
Attention to detail combined with an ethos of governance compliance
