Company Background:
Major Mining and Processing Organisation.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, manage work relating to ore reserves and resources and ensure technical acceptability, integrity and work done on Ore Reserves and Resources. Manage inter-discipline co-ordination and interface and report on compliance issues.
Key areas of activity:
- Manage the ore Reserves and Resources to ensure security of supply and business sustainability.
- Project-manage exploration projects.
- Manage the Mineral Resources Management Unit, implement Corporate Standards and sign off as the Competent Person.
- Develop, implement, promote and monitor the Mineral Resources Management principles across the whole value chain (exploration to final product).
- Supervise contractors, sub-contractors, health and safety officers and manage work relating to ore reserves and resources.
- Manage and monitor ore reserves and resources and make recommendations to executive management on access to additional reserves and resources
- Develop an ore reserves risk management matrix.
- Ensure adherence to legal, health, safety, environmental and quality standards and requirements.
- Create, maintain and work to a realistic and detailed budget for the overall ore reserves acquisition project and sub-projects
- Obtain adequate and balanced project management and other resources (if required) with functional management support.
- Control project schedule(s) and related work through regular review meetings and coordinate the flow of project and technical information to ensure quick, effective communication
Key Attributes Required:
- BSc (Hons)/MTech in Geology with 10 years' mining experience
- Registration with the SACNASP and qualified as the Competent Person to signoff statements or similar reports for Mines and Projects
- A postgraduate MRM qualification would be an added advantage,
- Working experience in mining and exploration geology with a good knowledge of survey, draughting, rock engineering, mine planning and mine scheduling practices is essential.
- Working knowledge of GEMS (or similar) geological modelling software and good
- Sound experience of methods of exploration, analysis, Reserve and Resource Modelling, open cast mine planning and mine optimisation.
- Experience related to core drilling and sampling techniques
- Knowledgeable of the processes and procedures required to obtain regulatory approval to acquire and mine prospective ore bodies
- Performance of trend analysis including analysis of project costs, schedule and ore reserves depletion and balance remaining.
