NATURE OF BUSINESS: a Leading Professional Services Body and Multi-Owner Law Firm

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg, Gauteng

REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: in excess of R1 billion

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The Chief Financial officer is responsible for providing strategic financial advisory leadership to Webber Wentzel and directing the firm’s financial management policies and procedures to ensure the firm’s financial operations, transactions, assets and investments are effectively managed in line with the short- and long-term business and profitability objectives of the firm. A key component of the responsibilities include the contribution to the development of the firm’s overall strategy and, in particular, the development of the firm’s financial strategy. Furthermore, he/she is accountable for the direction, management and performance of the finance department

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Must have had at least 14 years post-qualifying experience, 8 of which in a finance leadership role
  • Must have an analytical mind with a strong strategic ability
  • Responsible for the financial reporting, budget process, forecasts, cashflow management, financial planning and detailed financial analysis to facilitate decision making
  • Must have demonstrable experience in partnering and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including multi-owner managed organisation
  • Must have demonstrable experience in driving operational excellence in setting, implementing and monitoring compliance to finance policies and guidelines
  • Must have managed a Finance staff complement of more than 30 team members
  • Excellent organisational, project management and leadership skills
