JOB LOCATION: Harare, Zimbabwe

REPORTS TO: Managing Director

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: A critical role in the bank, working in partnership with the Managing Director, the Chief Financial Officer is accountable for the financial management of the Zimbabwean Financial Institution. He/she is responsible to coordinate the formulation and tracking of strategy, plan and forecast financial performance for the organisation and ensure that the strategy remains coherent and well disseminated to the business. Furthermore, provide strong leadership to the country Finance team and work to strengthen end-to-end reporting. He/she will be responsible for the management, coordination and reporting of all financial function aspects including budgets, management reports, annual financial statements, capital expenditure/revenue, strategic issues, risk management, coordinating the external audit, as well as ensuring the control environment is strong, and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements (RBZ, ZIMRA, ZSE). Additionally the role has full responsibility for the Exchange Control function and the Reconciliation function of the bank.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • A strong technical accountant with sound knowledge of IFRS, Stock Exchanges and related listings requirements and relevant legislation, Transfer Pricing, and Taxation
  • Experience of working in a multinational, multi-segment, environment with matrix reporting
  • In-depth business awareness and thorough understanding of financial services sector and risk policies and procedures
  • A strong feel for business and the issues facing the financial services industry in Africa, especially in Zimbabwe
  • Experience of working with senior management and of exerting influence with formal authority
  • Good understanding of broader operating environment including codes of practice
  • Good experience of managing relationships at executive level
  • An ambitious self-starter with drive and enthusiasm capable of challenge the status quo
  • A flexible and adaptive individual who regards discretion and integrity as a critical character trait. Useful to possess pragmatic decision making abilities
  • An open minded conceptual thinker, and effective leader with both long-term strategy development and delivery abilities coupled with daily hands-on involvement
  • Strong analytical skills and a high level of business acumen, sound judgement & proven problem solving skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Essential to hold a qualification as Chartered Accountant. A Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration would be advantageous.
