Chief Financial Officer for a Healthcare Administrator

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Healthcare Administrator 

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg, Gauteng 

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: in excess of R7.5 billion

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The CFO role is responsible for commercial and strategic leadership of the organisation, alongside the CEO, with direct oversight and leadership of all aspects of financial management of the organisation. This includes leading teams which oversee inter alia financial goals, audit and risk governance, compliance, incentive oversight, strategic partner relationships, budgets and reporting to the CEO and board.

The CFO should be a commercially astute and business-focused individual who is focused on improving the organisation’s financial well-being, is experienced in deal-making and managing partnerships. The role requires an experienced business leader who is able to inspire teams, drive performance improvements and elevate a work culture to positively embrace productivity and profitability while directing and leading the financial team(s).

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • At least 12-15 years’ post articles finance experience, with a minimum of 8 years’ service in a senior finance role (it would be advantageous to have gained the experience in the Financial Services/Healthcare industry)
  • Must have had financial responsibility for revenues of at least R5 billion and managed a Finance staff complement of more than 20 team members
  • Must have an analytical mind with a strong strategic ability
  • Exposure to a highly pressurised, complex and regulated environment
  • Experience in all areas in relation to business control and monitoring of financial performance by measuring and analysing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances; analysing variances; developing improvements and reporting on results.
  • Treasury, tax, internal/external audit and regulatory management experience
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS, South African Board and corporate governance requirements as well as an understanding of risk management and capital management including experience with annual financial budgeting, forecasting, cost management and the preparation of financial reports.
  • Experience in M&A as well as the management of joint ventures
  • Growth mindset with demonstrable experience and success in implementing innovative financial solutions to drive efficiencies, productivity, cost reductions and process improvements
  • Experience in leading and developing a team of high calibre individuals
  • Must have demonstrable experience in driving operational excellence in setting, implementing and monitoring compliance to finance policies and guidelines
  • Excellent organisational, project management and leadership skills
  • A cerebral individual coupled with a high EQ, humility and the ability to “push back” and take difficult decisions
  • Strong business acumen and insights, problem solving skills and analytical ability with experience in the design, calculation and management of the executive and employee incentive & reward programs
  • Trustworthy, reliable and honest with an entrepreneurial bias that cultivates innovation
  • Strong communication skills, collegial and collaborative, with the ability to appreciate diverse views, maintain objectivity and arrive at sound decisions
