SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: 
As Group Chief Financial Officer and second-in-command (2-i-C) to the Group Chief Executive Officer, this role is pivotal in shaping and steering the Group's strategic direction, ensuring alignment of subsidiary and entity business strategies with the overarching Group strategy, and focusing on long-term sustainability, profitability, growth, and expansion within South Africa and across the African continent. Responsibilities include providing strategic input to the Group Chief Executive Officer and executive team, ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance, fostering a culture of impeccable governance, safeguarding Group assets through robust financial controls and risk management frameworks, and overseeing cash allocation and financial resource management. The incumbent also provides accurate and timely financial information and analysis to support sound decision-making. This role demands a strategic and commercial leader with a profound understanding of financial management, governance, and business acumen, dedicated to propelling the Group towards sustained success and industry leadership.


KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible financial experience post qualification, including significant years in senior management and leadership roles such as Divisional Finance Director in a listed entity.
  • Essential to have experience working in a large listed group, ideally within a matrix or federated structure and proficiency in managing legal contracts and ensuring compliance with JSE regulations and the Companies Act.
  • Extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance, ideally with exposure to the African market.
  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking abilities, with a commercial mindset oriented towards growth and risk management.
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of accounting and finance principles as well as analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges effectively.
  • Exhibits exceptional leadership qualities, capable of motivating and guiding teams and making impactful decisions.
  • Self-driven and assertive, with the ability to influence others ethically and resiliently.
  • Challenges solutions rigorously, adeptly adopting a contrarian viewpoint to ensure optimal decisions that align with long-term business goals, supported by data-driven insights.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Essential to hold a Chartered Accountant (CA (SA) qualification. 
  • Additional post graduate qualifications would be advantageous
