SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The VP: Shared Services will establish and lead the company’s shared services functions, encompassing Financial Analytics and Data, Operational & Performance Analytics, Financial Operations, HR Transactional Operations, IT, Procurement, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment), Customer Service Centre, and Master Data Management. The role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency, service delivery, and cost savings through centralised service models across all African operations.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with strong commercial and strategic acumen and a proven track record in establishing and managing shared services functions within complex environments. The role demands exceptional communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in shared services. As a key player in integrating various organisational functions and managing critical external relationships, the incumbent will ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant operations.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in Shared Services or related functions, with 10 years in senior leadership, preferably within large, complex organisations in the energy or related sector
  • Proven expertise in building, deploying, and maturing shared services across multiple disciplines in complex organisational environments.
  • Strong understanding of financial and operational analytics, HR, IT, procurement, legal, ethics & compliance, HSSE, customer service, and master data management.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed and culturally diverse teams, particularly within Africa, with in-depth knowledge of regulatory and business practices in the region.
  • Commercial and strategic thinker with a pragmatic yet innovative approach, focused on driving implementation and visible results with clear bottom-line impact.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and building high-performing teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • International and emerging market experience, with a strong preference for African exposure and the ability to operate effectively in multicultural environments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or related field.
  • MBA or advanced postgraduate degree preferred.
