Head of Marketing, a Leading Retail Organisation

POSITION: Head of Marketing

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Leading Retail Group

LOCATION: Western Cape

REPORTS TO: Head of Strategy 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The Candidate will:

  • Be directly responsible for the full leadership and guidance of the marketing structures within the Group by assuming responsibility for all deliverables aligned to the role
  • Assume responsibility for the overall design, development and implementation of the Marketing strategy in line with the organizations strategic themes and core values and will include a blending of traditional, digital and eCommerce marketing initiatives

The position is a commercially driven role working closely with Management to drive and deliver strategy.


KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing or Business Communication
  • Preferably supported by a MBA or post-graduate management qualification in a Commercial field
  • Should ideally be between mid 30’s and early 50’s in terms of the minimum years of experience required for the position
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a marketing environment at an Executive level
  • Experience in a retail environment will be advantageous but not essential
  • Extensive marketing, sales and commercial knowledge and skills coupled with extensive exposure to digital marketing
  • Should have had P&L accountability for his/her area of responsibility
  • Proven analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to work successfully under pressure with excellent attention to detail
  • Resilience within a fastpaced, complex and challenging environment

 

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Assume the position of Head of Marketing and build upon the existing success and momentum while increasing its profit contribution to the Group
  • Formulate an innovative strategy to blend the traditional marketing following with a digital marketing approach
  • Develop and implement a brand portfolio strategy which aligns to the overall group strategy
  • Drive brand positioning based on market, competitor and consumer understanding
  • Use data analytics to inform marketing decisions around future promotions; to keep track of customer behavior and patterns beyond purchasing which could potentially help further segment marketing
