POSITION: Independent Non-Executive Director of the Main Board

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Mining Group 

REPORTS TO: Independent Non-Executive Chairperson

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

He/she should bring an experienced and objective view to Board issues and deliberations. He/she would be expected to have an impact on the Board, providing a dynamic and creative contribution to the strategic direction of the Company as well as on a wide range of business issues. He/she may be appointed as a Member of appropriate Sub-Committees depending on areas of expertise

 

KEY ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Ideally should have extensive expertise and knowledge in respect of South Africa’s energy sector and be of value as Company pursues its energy strategy
  • Ideally should have held an Executive position in a significant listed company with solid technical expertise and a proven track record of strategic executive leadership, change management and personal achievement.
  • Adept and comfortable in dealing with key decision makers in the relevant Government Departments and the respective authorities. Must have a track record of positive relationships with government, ideally in the mining and energy sector
  • Deeply engaged and connected within their South African network, legacy of contribution within their community and a broad understanding of the social construct within which the company, and its Board of Directors, operates
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business generally with an appreciation of broad economic, commercial and financial trends
  • Must have a thorough understanding of systems of a financial control environment and risk management
