JOB LOCATION: Stutterheim/ East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa 
REPORTING TO: Chairperson & Board of Directors

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: 
The Group Chief Executive Officer is the most senior full-time executive within the organisation, responsible for defining and implementing the company’s mission, vision, and strategy while ensuring its growth (acquisitive and organic), long-term sustainability and competitive advantage. This role entails overall accountability for the organisation’s operational and financial performance, the leadership and direction of the top management team, and the development of policies and plans that align with the company’s strategic objectives. The incumbent is also tasked with driving organisational transformation by integrating an entrepreneurial mindset with a more structured, corporatised approach, while cultivating and sustaining a high-performance culture, strengthening key stakeholder relationships, and upholding corporate governance standards while ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation and industry regulations. 


KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Proven track record in strategic leadership, financial management, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement at an executive level.
  • Extensive experience in profit and loss (P&L) management, with a strong understanding of financial drivers and operational efficiencies within the timber, forestry, agro-processing, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and growing businesses of comparable scale and complexity, with a strong focus on commercial performance and sustainable growth.
  • Results-driven and commercially astute with experience in mergers, acquisitions, and business expansion, and a strong ability to identify growth opportunities and successfully integrate new operations.
  • Proven ability to lead organisational change, fostering a high-performance corporate culture that seamlessly integrates entrepreneurial values, processes, and structures with strategic objectives.
  • A strong and dynamic leader with exceptional emotional intelligence and business acumen, capable of guiding the team to achieve the company’s growth ambitions.
  • Experience in engaging with boards of directors, investors, government agencies, clients, senior executives employees, and other key stakeholders, fostering strong partnerships and corporate reputation.
  • International business exposure and the ability to manage operations across multiple locations.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to operate effectively office-based and remotely while also undertaking local, national, and international travel as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Forestry, or a related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification in leadership, strategy, or corporate governance would be advantageous.
