NATURE OF BUSINESS: Mining Industry

JOB LOCATION: Northeast of Pretoria, Gauteng

REPORTS TO: General Manager

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The Production Manager is appointed in terms of Section 3(1)(a) of the Mine Health and Safety Act and is accountable for concentrator plant production and operations. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of acid-grade fluorspar, in alignment with business targets and statutory requirements. This includes oversight of the flotation plant, assay laboratory, tailings storage facility, and associated infrastructure, as well as leadership of a multi-disciplinary team to drive operational excellence, process optimisation, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • 10–15 years' experience in plant operations, including at least 7 years of post-graduate experience in mineral processing within the mining industry
  • Proven leadership in technical and production operations within a concentrator plant, with hands-on experience in flotation processes
  • Systems- and process-oriented thinker, known for a structured approach to solving complex operational challenges
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing, refining, and managing systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production, quality, safety, and maintenance
  • Recognised as a high-potential growth candidate, combining leadership capability, commercial insight, and a solid operational track record
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management across internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy (or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification)
  • MBA or MBL qualification will be advantageous
  • Legally appointed in terms of Section 3(1)(a) of the Mine Health and Safety Act, with demonstrable experience in fulfilling statutory responsibilities
