SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The incumbent will assume full P&L responsibility for the Fluid Control Business Unit (~R1.2bn revenue), leading and directing all commercial, operational, procurement, technical, and branch activities. The role requires the establishment of strong execution discipline, restoration of customer service levels, and delivery of sustainable profitable growth across a technically complex, import-driven industrial distribution business serving mining, water, infrastructure, energy, and related sectors.

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

• Minimum 10 years’ senior leadership experience, including full P&L accountability for a business unit or division of at least R500 million turnover (preferably ~R1 billion), with direct responsibility for profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and working capital management
• Proven track record in industrial distribution or engineered technical B2B environments (e.g. valves, piping, fluid systems, mining, water, infrastructure), operating in import- and inventory-intensive supply chains
• Demonstrated history of business turnaround or measurable performance improvement, including margin expansion, operational recovery, and service level enhancement in complex environments
• Experience leading multi-site operations and cross-functional teams of 200+ employees, integrating sales, operations, procurement, technical, and branch network functions
• Strong commercial and technical judgement with experience engaging OEMs, international principals, suppliers, and engineering-led customers in specification-driven environments
• Visible, hands-on leadership style with strong execution discipline, high accountability standards, and effectiveness within a matrixed, governance-driven industrial organisation

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business Management, Supply Chain or related field
• Engineering qualification preferred (particularly mechanical, industrial, or related disciplines involving fluid systems or process industries)
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification will be an advantage
