JOB LOCATION:  South Africa

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The incumbent will play a key advisory role and assist in the legal, governance, and company secretarial function with particular emphasis on ensuring compliance in relation to issues of corporate governance, communicating with external stakeholders and liaising with the Board of Directors and shareholders. The role serves as a central source of strategic guidance and advice to the Board and within the company on matters of good governance and changes in the regulatory environment. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in supporting effective decision-making, enabling regulatory confidence, and driving continuous governance transformation aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • At least 10 years’ leadership experience as a seasoned governance professional, operating at board level within either a listed company or a complex division in Financial Services or Telecommunications
  • Demonstrable exposure to prudential regulation and financial services governance is strongly preferred
  • Comfortable operating in complexity, able to influence at the highest level, and committed to evolving governance in support of a modern, forward-looking Finance Institution
  • Exposure to transformation, change programmes, or digital initiatives within a regulated context
  • Compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory matters
  • Possesses personal gravitas and integrity with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Operates as a credible, calm, and trusted advisor to executive management and non-executive directors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • LLB (minimum requirement), with a Chartered Secretary qualification (CGISA / FCG) or equivalent governance accreditation highly advantageous
