Head of Plant, Mining & Infrastructure Services

POSITION: Head of Plant
NATURE OF BUSINESS: Mining & Infrastructure Services
JOB LOCATION: Significant East African Economy
REPORTING TO: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Head of Plant will assume executive responsibility for the strategic leadership, operational performance, reliability, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the company’s operational equipment fleet across multiple operating sites in one of the top three East African Economies.

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 10–15 years’ senior leadership experience within heavy industry, engineering services, asset-intensive operations, infrastructure, industrial services, or related environments, with responsibility for enterprise-wide plant, fleet, or asset management functions
  • Proven track record leading large mobile asset fleets across geographically dispersed, operationally critical environments, with demonstrated success improving asset availability, reliability, utilisation, maintenance performance, and operational readiness
  • Extensive experience implementing preventive, predictive, and reliability-centred maintenance strategies, with the ability to transform reactive maintenance environments into disciplined, systems-driven asset management operations
  • Strong operational leadership experience managing multi-site workshops, field service operations, maintenance planning, reliability engineering, component lifecycle programmes, and technical support functions within complex asset-intensive environments
  • Proven ability to lead organisational transformation, develop high-performing technical teams, strengthen leadership capability, and embed a proactive, reliability-focused culture centred on planning discipline, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainable capability development
  • Hands-on, highly credible operational leader with strong workshop and field experience, capable of balancing strategic asset management leadership with practical execution within demanding, high-utilisation industrial environments across Africa

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (essential)
  • Additional qualifications in Asset Management, Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related disciplines will be advantageous
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Commercial Management, or a related field will be advantageous
