POSITION: Property Legal Manager

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Financial Services and Wealth

JOB LOCATION: Western Cape

REPORTING TO: Chief Regulatory Officer

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: The Property Legal Manager will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters related to the companies’ Property Investment Portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding and in-depth knowledge of property law, and investment structures, and regulatory frameworks governing real estate funds. Exceptional communication and analytical skills are essential, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, navigate complex legal landscapes to maximise returns and mitigate risks and ensure legal compliance.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Proven experience (10 years) working as a legal professional specialising in property law, with a focus on property transactions, preferably in a fund management, real estate investment context or corporate environment
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing investment funds, including securities laws, tax regulations, and compliance standards, JSE Listings Requirements and the Collective Investment Schemes Control Act, Financial Intelligence Centre Act, etc.
  • Proven experience in the MRI Property Central system (‘MRI or MDA’ - formerly MDA Property Manager) (compulsory)
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering practical and commercially viable legal solutions
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies and a valid legal practicing certificate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BCom LLB or equivalent as well as right of appearance in the Magistrates Court / High Court
  • Additional qualifications in either property law, finance, or business administration are an advantage
