POSITION: Chief Executive Officer – South Africa  

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Global Specialty Chemicals, Plastics and Rubber manufacturing and distributing company 

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg, South Africa  

REPORTING TO: Group Executive Board, Group COO and Group CFO

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:  

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the integration of the acquired company into the global organisation and drive business growth within the South African market. The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's operations, including successful integration into the new global structure, establishing a strong market presence for the international company within South Africa, and executing strategies for sustainable business growth as well as leading a knowledgeable and established team. 

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED: 

  • A minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in the chemical or industrial manufacturing/distribution or related industry, with a proven track record of driving growth and profitability. 

  • Must have been responsible for a business of division with annual revenues in the region of R1 billion.  

  • Must have established and integrated a company or division in South Africa into a larger corporate structure  

  • Local South African Manager or substantial experience gained throughout key industry segments in South Africa 

  • Proven track record of growing revenues and a successful history of building, transforming, developing, motivating and leading a high calibre team of managers to achieve superior performance 

  • Strong understanding of global business dynamics, mergers, acquisitions, and integration processes and experience in navigating complex regulatory environments and developing strong relationships with local stakeholders. 

  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic plans that deliver sustainable business results. 

  • Must have a good understanding of industrial manufacturing processes as well as general business functions such as Operations, Purchasing, Planning, Warehousing, Technical and Research and Development, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Legal and Sales and Marketing 

  • Good financial understanding, with a sound knowledge of budgeting and strategic planning. Must display experience in coping with the financial complexity of the business and understanding impacts on Profit and Loss and balance sheet 

  • Pan African experience is preferable. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business, with an MBA or advanced degree preferred.
